Can I Take Two Next Choice Pills at the Same Time?

Hello! I have 2 questions. A lil over 2 weeks ago me & my boyfriend had sex. He ejaculated in me. We went & got the next choice pills. I took one & then I took the other pill 13 hours later accidently. It was suppose to be 12hrs later. I asked a pharmacist he said more than likely I’ll be fine.

I took a pregnacy test yesterday. & I was negative. I took 2 of them actually. Both said negative.. But I have a concern. We had sex again wensday & he ejaculated again. I took the Next choice pills again. Right after. But I took both of them at the same time. because pharmacist’s said I could because its easier. (I’ve done it before a while ago..& it worked the same..my period did come)..but Do you think Im in the clear? My period is expected to be here on the 8th. but Im thinking this pill probably..pushed it back! what do you think? Im soo stressing out.

Dear Sarah,

You should be fine. Your chances for becoming pregnant from either incident are extremely slim due to taking the emergency contraception fairly close in time to the event. Yes, you can take both of the Next Choice pills at the same time (that would make them similar to the Plan B One Step single dose). However, because you’ve taken Next Choice twice so close in time to each other (as in two separate total dosages of Next Choice), I wouldn’t be surprised if your next period is delayed or skipped completely. If it doesn’t come by the 13th, then take another home pregnancy test. That should come back negative also.

Best luck and you can stop stressing out :)

It’d probably be better to go on birth control or use a condom instead of worrying and taking the Next Choice pills every time you have sex, wouldn’t it?

    • Hannah says:

It would be best to go on birth control. Taking Next Choice on a frequent or regular basis would wreak havoc on your body. Definitely not a good “choice” to take.

    • Sarah says:

Mildred, I dont use next choice everytime. I dont have unprotected sex like that. I slipped up about 5 times. In the whole year of us being together. I was on birth control. But I did not like the way it made me feel. So I have a appointment to lower the hormones or switch my method! But seein that this was one of those times. Where I slipped up. I wouldve loved to hear what you all thought of the subject. See if ou all thought that I was ok!

      • Hannah says:

I can relate with the birth control. Sometimes you and your ob/gyn have to experiment with a couple different types of birth control pills to find one that works just right for you. And it’s really an individual matter – what might work well for your friend could make you feel miserable. Sometimes you have to have a couple miserable months in hopes that your body will adjust, but sometimes that adjustment never happens so it’s back to the drawing board.

Hi just wanted to know if my wife can still have kids if she has probably taken atleast 6 pills?

    • Hannah says:

I’m a little lost, Jose. Do you mean if she’s taken 6 Next Choice pills in her life or if she just took 6 Next Choice pills within the past month or so??
