Dear Liza,

Have you tried taking a home pregnancy test? You could always get one at Walmart or a local pharmacy and even do it in their bathroom if you weren’t able to take it home and do it there. Having sex right after your period ended would give you a slim probability for getting pregnant (it is true that sperm can live inside you for several days, but ovulation – at the earliest – typically doesn’t take place until day 10, and usually ovulation is later around day 14 or 15 with day 1 being the first day of your last period).

Using a condom that doesn’t break is a pretty fairly “safe” birth control method, though many people are a bit sloppy with condoms and some sperm can get inside you then, and that’s what gives condoms a higher than expected failure rate.

Hopefully, it’s just your stress and worrying that is having an effect on your period. Personally, that’s my bet. However, just to make sure, I’d recommend you wait until the day when your expected period should have ended, and then take that home pregnancy test. That should help calm your nerves.

In the unlikely event that you are pregnant, I bet you’d be surprised at how supportive your parents could be. Yes, they’d be initially upset with you – more so in shock – and, yes, they’d be very disappointed in you (and that will last), but they can get over it regardless of how strict they are, and they’ll surprise you with their support once they come around (and that can take a while). I know well from experience. But, hopefully, you won’t have to cross that line.

Best of luck!

Hannah

Me & my boyfriend had sex 2 days after my period had ended. We used a condom, and it stayed on the whole time, it did not slip or anything. My boyfriend says no cum went in me, but you never know. I have been getting cramps and bloating and all the signs to start my period, but it never gets here. I get vaginal discharge, but i usually get that when my period is about to begin. I don’t see why i’m not getting my period. it is almost a week late. People say my period is probably late because i’ve been soooo stressed about not getting it. I sure hope that’s what is it because i’m scared out of my mind. I’ve been crying & going crazy! Please help me. and give me your opinion on this. please & thank you hannah.

    Tashah,

Have you tried taking a home pregnancy test? The odds of getting pregnant 2 days after your period ends are slim – but they do exist. Some women, in fact, have become pregnant during their period, but that is very rare and definitely the exception.

Your fertile period typically will start about 4 to 5 days before ovulation and end about 24 to 48 hours following it. Your fertile period is so long because sperm can remain viable (ie alive) inside of you for 4 to 5 days, and your egg will live for 24 to 48 hours after it is released.

Some women may experience ovulation as early as the 10th of the cycle (counting the first day of your period as day 1) while others may experience ovulation much later in their cycle. Most will ovulate around the 14th day of a typical 28 day menstrual cycle.

It’s common for stress to delay your period, and, ironically enough, the more worried you are about becoming pregnant, the more havoc that anxiety will play on your system.

To calm your worries in the event your period continues to not come, I’d recommend waiting until the last day of your expected period (i.e. the day when the period you should have had would have typically ended), and then take a urine home pregnancy test to verify that you are not pregnant.

    Best wishes,
    Hannah

I have been on the pill for 2 months now. When i finished my first pack about 3 or 4 days later my period started. On the 7th day i started my next pack and that was the last day of my period. I had sex on the last day of my period and he told me he didnt cum inside of me but i am still worried. I was wondering does the pill still work even though i was on my period ? Im really scared because i have only 16 and the boy i had sex with is 18 and i wouldnt know what to do if i am pregnant. Please help, thank you.

hey , im soriya and im 14
i had sorta lost my virginity april. 1 , started my period. then april 23 , i lost it completely without a condom , he pulled out , jacked off and came on his hand. my lower stomach was hurtn bad, but my sister said his penis was super big for a 15 year old , so that can be the reason .
3 or 4 days later , i started bleeding, but not as heavy as i used to and that lasted for like 4-5 days.
but now its the 7th and this is the day i suppose to start my period or around this time. am i pregnant =/

hi, i’m fourteen and my boyfriend and i recently had sex for the first time. we had sex on about the second or third day of my period, and once again when it was just ending, which was about a week later.
we used a condom, and he pulled out well before he came, and i could not see any signs of the condom having broken – i checked.
there was only a small amount of precum i think, and he went to the toilet both times before we did it.
i took a home pregnancy test to help ease my paranoia and though it came out negative almost straight away, it wouldn’t be accurate as i have taken it a week before my period is due.
i’m just really worried and scared and i want to know my chances of being pregnant.
