My period started normally on April 3rd, and lasted about 7 days. My boyfriend and i had sex with a condom, on April 13th 2010. The condom broke, so the next morning we went to Planned Parenthood and got a day after pill. (Plan B One-Step) It had two pills, but the lady said to take them both at once. I took the pills within 14 hours. 4 days after i took the pill, i got a brownish discharge for about 3 days. I though maybe it was side effects from the Pills. It stopped, and i just decided to wait for my period. My period is late, (Today being May 9, 2010). I took a pregnancy test on May 7th, 2010, and i was negative. I sill have not gotten my period. I am worried, and need your help! Please.

Thank you for your question. It’s typical to have some spotting a few days after taking the Plan B pills (which is similar to taking a very high dosage of birth control pills). It may also “mess up” your normal menstrual cycle causing you to miss your next period or making your next period (or two) be lighter or heavier than normal. You could take a pregnancy test in a week just to triple check, but you should be fine since your symptoms are pretty much in line with the normal side effects. Your cycle should return back to normal within the next month or two.

My girlfriend took the morning after pill 5hours after having sex. She already missed her period for 5days, and today its the 6th day and she had some old blood discharge. Does it mean that my girlfriend had already started her period today? and does it mean that she’s not pregnant anymore? Tomorrow morning she’s going to do a pregnancy test, and when the result is shown, is it fairly conclusive?

Me and A girl had sex 2 nights ago and the condom broke. We only had sex for around 45 seconds and then i pullout and ejaculated about 5 seconds after. I am only worried about precum. I know that I hadnt ejaculated within the last 3 days and i had peed everyday a few times so i should have no worries about any cum being in the precum. She then toke the Plan B pill about 40 hours after we had sex. Should I be at all worried?
Usually Plan B is most effective if taken within 12 hours of having sex. However, based on your circumstances, I wouldn’t be too worried. It doesn’t sound like there’s much chance at all that any sperm made its way inside her.

Last time i had my periods was from July 28 until August 1st and i had sex on August 2nd, the condom broke and i’m not sure whether he ejaculated inside or not. Anyway i took plan B 10 hours after and had some spotting a few days later. I took 1 HPT the presumed day of my next periods and it came out negative. But i still didn’t have my periods, so i took another HPT 1 week after that was again negative. Now my periods are 2 weeks late and i don’t know what to do… :(
I am afraid that the HPT did not work, though i carefully used them in the morning etc.
Do you think i am pregnant ?

Three weeks ago i had sex with my boyfriend while i was having my periods from the previous morning after pill. after a day i took the oestrogen 72 hour pill but until today after 3 weeks/3 days i still have not got my periods. Can i be pregnant or my periods are just late i’m scared to go for pregnancy tests.

i had sex three weeks ago and took the pestrogen after pill the next day, the day after taking a pill i consumed 3 glasses of alchohol and until today 3 weeks and 4 days i have not gotten my periods. Could this be because of the alcohol i consumed? can i be pregnant ? or is just that my periods are late?

I took the morning after pill and its now 3 days later and nothing has happened i felt a very slight amount of cramps the day before but nothing else. I had stopped my contraceptive pill the day i took the morning after pill but my period hasnt shown up yet, should i be worried or am i just being paranoid and need to give it a few more days?

my boyfriend and i had unprotected sex three times within 3 days. i’m positive her didn’t release inside me any of the 3 times, but i’m super nervous about precum.
we had the unprotected sex sunday, monday, and friday. i took the plan B pill saturday morning. there were no side effects this weekend, but today is tuesday and NOW i feel nausea. is this normal?
The probability of getting pregnant from precum is very slim – if precum is all that entered your vagina. Many times guys release some actual sperm and just claim it was only precum (so it comes down to an honesty thing – and how conscious the guy was about what was happening in the midst of it all). If some sperm entered you on Sunday and you took the Plan B pill on Saturday, the Plan B pill would be largely ineffective (it’s most effective when taken right away after having sex). I would definitely recommend taking a home pregnancy test when your next period should start followed by another pregnancy test a week later (in the event the first test is negative). On the other hand, if no sperm entered your system either of the 3 times you had sex, then the nausea is probably just being caused by the Plan B pill (which is common). Note that by taking Plan B, you’ll probably find your regular monthly period to be either delayed or skipped altogether. Keep us updated!

On july 3oth had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. The next day we got the plan B contraceptive. About a week later I started bleeding and I bled for 2 day. It is now September 22nd and I haven’t gotten my period yet. I have been experiencing cramping that comes and goes for 2-3 weeks. Also since taking plan B we have had unprotected sex. Is it possible that I could be pregnant? I have taken a pregnancy test recently and it was negative.
Taking the Plan B contraceptive can mess up your regular cycle, causing your period to be late or even skipped altogether. However, since you’ve had unprotected sex since taking Plan B, in the event that your body did ovulate, there would be a chance that you were pregnant. Possibly, you took the pregnancy test too early – before the level of hCG in your urine was high enough to be detectable by the pregnancy test. As a result, to err on the safe side, I’d recommend taking another pregnancy test in a week followed by another one a week later (if the first one was still negative). My best guess is that the Plan B is just causing your menstrual cycle to be messed up and that your body will return to normal in a month or two.

It’s most likely just the heavy dosage of hormones in the morning after pill. However, I would still recommend that you take a home pregnancy test. I would take one right away and then, in the event the first one was negative, take a second one a week later just to be doubly safe. Most likely, though, it’s just the morning after pill.

She is now 5 days late but has no signs of being pregnant or her period coming. Her breasts are sore once in a while. Should we be worried?

hey, i am 21 years of age, i nwas on depo provera for 3 years and am off it 1 year now to try and lose weight, but unfortunatly i had “unprotected sex” with my partner of 5years on the sat 28th of august at 4:am, i was away camping so could not get the morning after pill on the sunday but i took it at 11:30 am monday morning. i then recieved my period on the 11th of september it lasted a week, it is now the 3rd of november and i have not got a period since, i took a clear blue hpt today and it came up negative but i am really worried, i cannot afford to go to the doctor for a false alarm, i have slight cramp in my lower back and pelvis, constant, headache and i am urinating alot, i am going crazy with worry, please help me xx

I am currently taking sprintec 28 and have been for over a year. I have never missed a pill. 2days ago I had sex with my boyfriend with a condom but it ripped. I took the plan b pill just to be safe 13 hours afterwards. Do you think there is a big chace I could be pregnant and will plan b make my birth control pill less effective?

i had sex with my girlfriend on November 16th with a condom but it broke, i did not ejaculate inside her because i pulled out which i do all the time regardless of a condom rip or not. shes not on any birth control but we went and bought plan b directly after finding out the condom broke. ( which she took as soon as we got home probably 45 minutes after having sex at the most.) We got told by the pharmacist to take the 2 pills 12 hours apart is this true? i have read different stories from people being told to take both at the same time or being told to do as we were. its so confusing and i just want it to work

I’ve been taking LoSeasonique for 2 weeks now. I take my daily pill around 12:00pm, however last Saturday I took it at 2:40pm due to accidentally leaving it at home while being out. Last night I had unprotected sex (one week after taking a late pill) and now I’m questioning whether I should consider getting Plan B or Next Choice. -im thinking I should because I’ve only been on this birth control 2 weeks today, and I think it would have been smart to wait an entire month before being unprotected-is this true? What should I do!?

I had unprotected sex and took the Next Choice morning after pill.. I took the first one about 70 hours after incident.. I was suppose to take the 2nd one 12 hours later.. Well, I over slept and took it 15 hours later and then I got sick about 10 minutes later and threw it up.. I was suppose to start my period today and I didn’t. I took a HPT this afternoon and it was “negative”.. Should I be worried..?
