Denise (age 17) writes, “I had unprotected sex monday June 6th my boyfriend told me his semen had gotten inside of me but he said it was not a lot at all. no more than 30 minutes later I took the next choice pill exactly 12 hrs later I took the second pill. Today June 9 th I had unprotected sex again but he didnt come no where near me. My last period was may 23 and it lasted about 4 or 5 days. My next period should come around June 21 or so. My question is can I be pregnant? will the pill still work even though I had sex 3 days after using it? I also had none if the sypmtoms that are listed for after taking the pill. PLEASE COMMENT BACK ASAP. I’m Panicking!”
Dear Denise,
Most likely you are fine. The chances for you getting pregnant are pretty slim. I wouldn’t be surprised if you do miss your June 21 period (or have it come later than expected), as a result of taking the Next Choice pills. You should probably still take a home pregnancy test around June 25 just to be safe (and to ease any worries, especially if your period doesn’t come); be sure to take it with your first-of-the-morning urine so you’ll have your best chances of detecting any hCG. Of course, I’m expecting the test to come back negative. Please keep us posted, and good luck! Next time, don’t forget to at least use a condom or start some type of regular birth control pill.

Well first unprotected sex is never a good thing if you aren’t ready to have a chile. Pre-ejaculation occurs anytime a penis becomes hard or goes inside a vagina. Women can get pregnant from pre-ejaculation just as much as regular. I have a friend who was born even though her mother was on BC and her father used a condom and didnt fully ejaculate. He pulled out even with the condom and 9 months later there she was. If you aren’t ready for a kid then use protection, every kind you can, especially condoms. Plan B pills dont always work. Just like all protection methods they are only a certain percent positive to work.
