Mek (age 20) writes, “me and my boyfriend have been having unprotected sex for about 4 or 5 months now. we are inded trying to have a child together. well for as long as i can remember my periods have lasted about four to five days and my first two days where alwasy heavy. for the past two months my periods have been only two days and just a light flow. iv taken home pregnacy test, they all have come back negative. he’s worried there something really wrong with me. im kinda on the fence and think it may be stress messing with my hormones. is there a possibility that the home pregnacy test are wrong and i am pregnat? i have all the symptoms, im tierd, nauses, feel like i cant hold food down, heart burn, mood swings, and the list goes on. im just really confussed about this could you give me some sort of insight?“
Dear Mek,
As long asĀ you are buying fresh home pregnancy tests and using them per the instructions they came with, it is very rare for them to be wrong. You could always “run your own test group” by buying different brand pregnancy tests from a couple different stores (in the unlikelihood that a particular batch & brand of HPT had a problem).
I’d strongly recommend you see your doc and see what he/she can find. Stress can have an effect on your period, but something else may be going on too, to contribute to all the other symptoms that you are experiencing. This is definitely something worth paying a visit to the doc for (though we all just love to do that!).
How long have you been tired, nauseous, with heart burn, etc.? Please keep us posted with what you find out.
Best wishes,
Hannah
dear hannah,
tank you so much for the insight. the symptoms have been going on for about a month and a half thats why iv been a lil concerned and my bf is really concerned. i plan on goin to the doc in about a week or two if things have not gotten better by then its just really hard with no insurence as most people know. once again thank you verry much and i will deff keep you posted.

Yeah, I can relate to that one. Crazy docs charge you an arm and a leg for spending 3 minutes telling you something you already know!
When I first thought I was pregnant I had taken 6 home pregnancy tests before I got one saying positive. And I was pregnant.
I’ve not had a period for about 9 nearly 10 weeks now, have alot of the symptoms but the tests are coming up negative. i’m doing another in the morning which will be the 5th one I think. I went to see the doctor already as Im concerned but he just said he couldn’t do a test and to go do another and keep doing them until one is positive. I’ve been getting sharp pains in my side/ abdomen lately but they come and go thus am afraid of having an eptopic pregnancy and the doctor wont even look at me. All there is to do is keep testing
Hmmm … it’s possible, with some people, that the initial level of hCG is low, but by this point in time, you should have a high enough level to trigger a positive with a pregnancy test. Even with an ectopic pregnancy, your urine should still have hCG in it. Are you buying all your pregnancy tests from the same store? Are you buying the same brand of pregnancy test? You could always get a different brand or go to a different store (just to be on the safe side). What kinds of symptoms are you experiencing?
Hi there,
I already have one little girl and now me and my partner are trying for number two. I had my last period on 29th September and been having unprotected sex from the 10th october. I have got strange feelings that I am pregnant but not to sure whether or not its wishful thinking. I did a pregnancy test and there was two line but the control line was very faint but definately two lines, i did another one the next day it was negative. I have now got very sensitive breasts and have got a small tender lump in one of them and not sure if this is to do with hormones and breast feeding with my daughter which i finshed over a year ago.
I am due my period in three days.
any advice will be greatly recieved.
Thank you Hannah
