Okay, so. Long complicated story short. I use a low dose birth control pill and take it very dependantly. I never miss pills. Problem is, back in april during the week that I was off birth control for my period, I had unprotected sex. My cycle usually runs about 31 days, despite the pills being only 28. So I’ll start my period half way through the week of sugar pills and carry on into the beginning of my next pill set. Since then, I have skipped three periods in a row.
I took a first home pregnancy test the week after I skipped the first time, then another after I skipped the second time. They were both negative. Besides being beyond confused, I have no idea what’s going on with my body. I have been under unusual amounts of stress during the second and third weeks of all three of the past cycles, but stress has NEVER effected me before. Ever, and I’ve been on the same birth control for over a year, ! and been having periods for 6 years. Should I be worried about possible pregnancy?
You should be fine. The irregularity in your period is pretty normal for a longer cycle, taking birth control pills, and your age. Believe me, just when you think you fully understand your cycle, expect the unexpected! And stress, believe it or not, can be having a factor, though I’m more inclined to just think it’s your birth control pills. Even if we looked at the week when you were off birth control and you had sex, the odds for you to get pregnant that week are extremely miniscule (based on how birth control works). Just keep taking your daily pills like clockwork, and be amused when your period is somewhat irregular. You’ll have normal months, and you’ll have abnormal months.
Relax and keep a smile!
