Shawn (age 24) writes, “I took one step this 1pm and 3 hours later, i had sex again and this time the condom broke inside. So my question is will the pill be effective on the later sex?“
Based on how One Step works, there is a good probability that the pill would be effective if you had sex that close to taking the pill. Of course, keep in mind that One Step won’t ever guarantee that you won’t get pregnant, but it will decrease your risk level. Having sex much longer after taking Plan B One Step wouldn’t be “covered” though. One Step typically will be effective just the day you take it (as well as up to 72 hours before, though the shorter the time period between having sex and taking the pill the higher the probability for effectiveness).
